Love Me For Me

I don’t care
Who you want me to be
Cause if it’s not me
Then who am I?
Making all these changes
Going in different directions
I don’t know where you’re
Going with all of this.
Throwing clothes at me
Trying to catch them.
Throwing books
They make no sense.
I don’t care
Who you want me to be.

Slow down look at me
And listen.
You’re moving too fast
Saying that there is much
You need to do,
But for right now
Open your ears and listen.

Look at me
And listen cause
I’ll only say this once
I love you, for you.
I just don’t care
Who you want me to be
I’m asking would
You still love me
For who I really am.
Cause I don’t care
Who you want me to be.

I’m taking these clothes
Off to show
My true colors.
Throwing those books
Into the fire
Turning to the ones
That I love.
Will you love me?
If you see my
True colors?
I’m going to let you go
You can stay or run,
But this is who I am.
You look at me
A tear runs down your face.
What’s wrong?
You sit down
I join you
Don’t know what’s going on.

Catch your breath
You tell me
All you wanted
Was to see my colors
Please, stop hiding.
 I don’t care who
You become as long as it’s you.
Cause I love you
Love you at your beat.
At your worst.

Don’t care
Care
Cause that’s why
I’m your friend
To not care.
To see you
As you.

See the best.
See the worst.
See all the colors.
You can’t scare
Me away
It’s too late for that.

I care who you are
Behind your mask.

I care who you are
Underneath the surface.
